Black and White Portrait

Here's a first!  This is a commissioned work that was requested in black and white.....a first for me (since, everyone knows how much I love color!)

Also, it's a rarity for me to do a human portrait, so here we have it!

Thanks Joe Lion!

The Amazing Joe Lion has done it!  He's helped me develop this new website, merged the blog and linked to Facebook!

MANY MANY thanks, Joe!!!  You're awesome.

Cheers,

Susan

Cows in a field

OK, so this is the 3rd painting I've made of this configuration of cows.

Many years ago when I lived on a farm in Kentucky, these Charolais cows would stand in a field outside my house looking at me JUST LIKE THIS!

So I snapped their picture and made my very first painting ever.  This was AFTER I graduated with my degree in art.  Which was in sculpture since I was Terrified of painting.

If I can find a copy of this painting, I will post it.  It was pretty sweet, I have to say.  (and, it sold!)

Several decades later, I painted the same configuration, in a newer style with collage.  (also...sold!)

So this spring, I decided to give it a new go.  And here it is!  This time in acrylic.  20" x 20"

cheers,
Susan

Surprise!

Surprise!
I have just hung a show at the Watauga Arts Council!
I didn't know about the show until a few short weeks ago (with Christmas and New Years in between).

So here it is, showcasing the originals for Goodnight Boone, and also a collection from the Painted Stitch, and of course, Alphabet Squares.  ( I took down the collection of prints hanging at Blue Ridge Pediatrics;  thank you!)...
Plus, One Very New Piece....stay tuned!

Cheers,
Susan

A is for Angel

And also for Aila;  welcome to the world!

I planned to paint a regular rainbow  here, but  right after I painted in the rainbow shape in white, I  witnessed an actual radiant WHITE rainbow!  It was gorgeous and so holy.

(these, I later learned are sometimes called "cloud bows" or "fog bows")

So it had to stay white.  But I gave it some music from the Messiah, and some words....grace and glory.

Cheers,
Susan
